Washington, D.C. – Congressman Kevin Mullin (CA-15) released the following statement on his vote for the Bipartisan Budget Agreement to raise the debt ceiling and prevent a default.

“I voted yes on the Bipartisan Budget Agreement,” Rep. Mullin said. “While I advocated strongly for a clean debt ceiling deal, this bill will avoid an economic catastrophe, millions of lost jobs, and a probable recession – the last thing we need after a three-year pandemic. I commend President Biden for his leadership in fending off devastating cuts and protecting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. While I oppose many provisions of the bill, right now, my priority and that of my Democratic colleagues is to see the big picture and avert disaster. In this era of divided and broken government, this deal demonstrates that we can indeed come together to do what’s right for the country. It’s time to end this MAGA-manufactured crisis and get back to the work the American people sent us to Congress to do.”
